Rivaldo returns to action at 43!
BY OUR CORRESPONDENT Former Brazil and Barcelona midfielder, Rivaldo wants to turn back the hands of the time by returning to action for Brazilian side Mogi Mirim, where he is president. At 43, Rivaldo is seriously considering developing of retirement to belt a few games if his knee is appropriate. “After a lot of thinking and analysing the pros and cons, I have decided to join the Mogi Mirim squad,” he wrote on Facebook. “That doesn’t mean I’m going to play because I’ve been out for a long serious amounts of now only administering the club. I stopped playing professionally 15 months gone by. “If my knee is OK, maybe I can support in a few games. But training will help me to decide.” Rivaldo had a massive goal turnover during his active days. He netted 245 times in 505 matches at club level and scored 35 goals in 74 appearances for Brazil. His professional career started at Mogi Mirin in the 90s and went on to play for big clubs like FC Barcelona, AC Milan and Olympiakos. Heading in the twilight of his career and before he joined Sao Paulo in 2011, Rivaldo announced in November 2010 that he could returning to Mogi Mirim, the club that he previously had started his career within early 1990s. “After sorting a lot of things outside of the country, I have decided perform the Paulista 2011 for Mogi Mirim, of whom I am President,” he'd said. On December 2013, Rivaldo actualized his earlier decision and signed for Mogi Mirim, until 2015. He’s currently the president of the club, where his son Rivaldinho also plays.
